Search

How people find your website on Google: what they typed, which pages showed, and where they searched from. From Google Search Console.

Dashboard → Acquire → Search. Each tab of the page is also a row under Search in the sidebar.

Search shows how your app's website does on Google. The numbers come from Google Search Console and cover the last 90 days.

Before you start

Search needs Google Search Console connected. Until it is, the page shows Connect Google Search Console first and a Go to Setup button. Setup takes about ten minutes. Follow Google Search Console.

The top of the page

Under the title is your website's address. Click it to open the site. The round arrow next to it syncs with Google now. Hover over it to see when it last synced.

The four numbers

NumberWhat it means
ClicksHow many times people clicked your site on Google.
Times shownHow many times your site showed up in Google results.
Click rateClicks divided by times shown.
Average spotWhere your site sat in the results, on average. 1 is the top of Google.

The tabs

TabWhat it shows
OverviewTwo charts. Clicks and times shown over time. Average spot on Google over time: a line going up means you moved closer to the top.
SearchesWhat people typed that showed your site.
PagesWhich pages of your site Google showed.
CountriesWhere people searched from, busiest first, with a flag and country name.
DevicesWhat they searched on: Phone, Computer or Tablet.
How it lookedThe kind of result your page showed up as, like review stars or a video.

Every table has the same columns: Clicks, Times shown, Click rate and Spot. Tables show 10 rows at a time. See more shows more.

Why a tab can be missing or empty

How it looked only appears when Google reports a special result for your site. A site that shows up as plain links never gets one, so the tab stays hidden. Countries and Devices can say "No breakdown yet" right after you connect. They fill in with the next hourly sync.
