Google Search Console
See how many people find your website on Google, what they typed to find it, and where you show up in the results.
Dashboard → Setup → Data sources → Google Search Console.
This shows you four things about your website: how many people clicked through from Google, how many times Google showed your site, what people typed, and which spot you sat in. Spot 1 is the top of the page.
Make your robot key.
If you have not made one yet, do this first. It takes about five minutes. Come back here with the key file and the robot's email.
Let the robot read your website's numbers.
Go to search.google.com/search-console and pick your website at the top left. Click Settings, then Users and permissions, then Add user. Paste the robot's email. Set permission to Restricted. Click Add.
Connect it in Fictura.
Dashboard → Setup → Data sources → Google Search Console. Paste your whole key file into the box and click Connect. Fictura asks Google which websites the robot can see, and you pick yours from the list.
Get your numbers.
Click Sync now. The first time takes a minute, because Fictura pulls the last 180 days. Then open Dashboard → Acquire → Search.
If you see your site twice
Google lets you add a site two ways, so the list may show both sc-domain:yoursite.com and https://www.yoursite.com/. Pick the one starting with sc-domain — it covers every page, with or without www.
What you get
- Overview — clicks and how often Google showed your site, day by day, plus your average spot over time. On the spot chart, the line going up means you moved closer to the top.
- Searches — the words people typed that showed your site.
- Pages — which pages of your site Google put in front of people.
Two things worth knowing
Google keeps about 16 months of history, so the first sync can only reach back so far. And the last two or three days keep changing while Google finishes counting, so a number you saw yesterday can move a little. Fictura re-checks the last two weeks every day, so those days fix themselves.
